Care Packages To Iraq
Below is the April 9, 2007 e-mail from Judy Donica to the families of the 3/509th. Judy and friends in Texas were the Easter Bunny’s helpers with care packages to the paratroopers in Iraq.
“I received an email from Shawna Daley with an address update.
I forwarded it on to the mother on one of Dustin’s closest friends at home. I walked with her on Friday. Jane told me she had 6 boxes ready to go and had received a very nice letter/thank you from Spc. Jason Matthews for a previous box she sent (and condolences to us). Below is her reply:
‘Judy, I read your e-mail just now and will begin sending packages to the new address.
That is so good to hear that they will begin to get mail faster! I am also going to send this info on to Donna Cox. She has 9 boxes almost ready to go. Brenda Dunleavy , my friend that teaches at Brill was VERY receptive to having her class write letters to the soldiers and she is talking to Mrs. Smith today about the rest of the school joining in if there is time in the schedule.

They are enclosing a note letting the guys know that they are friends of Dustin’s.
I thought it would help to know the connection and so they know how their names/addresses are getting circulated.
