Spartan Week Events - Memorial Dedication
To honor the Fallen Heroes of the Spartan Brigade, an entire week of events led up to the the unveiling of the Spartan Warrior Monument at Fort Richardson which memorializes the fifty-three soldiers KIA during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Families were invited to an Airborne demonstration drop at Malemute Drop Zone in memory of the fallen paratroopers. This week was meant to demonstrate to the 100 family members in attendance that their loved ones will not be forgotten.
“The most significant part of the Spartan Week is the memorial ceremony. It is important that we include the family members of those who made the ultimate sacrifice.”
-Brigade Command Sgt. Maj. David Turnbull
