On Friday, July 11, 2008, which would have been Dustin’s 24th birthday, our family received an e-mail from JohnnyD of the Southeast Texas Patriot Guard.  JohnnyD is the Patriot Guard Rider who gave me the In Memory of a Fallen Texas Hero PGR pins (see TX Patriot Guard Riders post) that I sent to the soldiers of the 3/509th Able Company stationed at Fort Richardson in Alaska that Dustin served with during Operation Iraqi Freedom.  I had mailed JohnnyD a Battle of the Bands t-shirt (see The Donica’s Support The Paratroopers Of The 3/509th post), an Angel In My Pocket token to help protect him as he rides, and Dustin’s 3/509th Geronimo Memorial Decal (see Memorial Decals tab above and additional post).  In his e-mail to our family, he thanked us for the remembrances and attached the above photo.  “I have the token on my key ring,” he said, “and as you can see, Dustin will ride with me on every mission and everywhere I go.”

JohnnyD, thank you for honoring Dustin.  He would be proud to ride with you.  -Judy Donica
